Welcome to Playful Kitty! My name is Robin and I am the founder of Playful Kitty.
Being a cat owner is one of the great joys of my life. Like many pet owners I think of my two cats (you can find their introductions below) as my non-human children. Needless to say, my own playful kitties are the inspiration for everything on this site.
I decided to start this site as a way to create community with my fellow cat lovers. I plan to bring a lot of fun cat stories, cat pictures, information about products relating to the care of cats, updates from great animal rescue groups and more! On this site you will be able to find just about anything relating to cats.
Your feedback is very important to me. Feel free to email me or leave comments about anything that is on the site (or that you would like to see on the site). Send me the stories or pictures of your playful kitty and I will post them for everyone to see!
Thank you so much for taking the time to visit Playful Kitty. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
Sincerely,
Robin

Cinco’s Story
Born: January 2006
Favorite Toy: Large white catnip mouse
I adopted Cinco from an animal rescue at a local pet store in March of 2006. He was just 4 months old and the last of his siblings to be adopted. From his first day with me, Cinco has always been a shy guy. He still hides whenever anyone besides me or my husband come in the house. My lap is still his favorite place to be.
Cinco doesn’t know it, but he was (and still is in many ways) and answer to my prayers. A month before I adopted him I had gone through a heart breaking loss. The cat that I had adopted previous to Cinco died suddenly of a very rare cat disease at only 2 years old. I was crushed. When I found Cinco, I finally began to heal. That playful little kitty warmed my heart right up.
Cinco’s name was actually a mistake that stuck with him. I intended to name him after the day of Biblical creation in which cats were made (which was actually day 6). Mistakenly thinking cats were created on day 5, I went through many different ways of saying 5 and Cinco stuck. He doesn’t seem to mind the mistake.
Manna’s Story
Born: June 2007
Favorite toy: My husband or the small catnip mice
Manna was quite the find! She showed up one day on the porch of my Dad’s trailer out of nowhere. She was only 3 weeks old and her mother was nowhere to be found. I couldn’t resist her when I saw her. She had great big blue eyes that just about popped out of her head. I had to feed her kitten milk and give her gentle baths (she had fleas). She never wanted to drink from an eye dropper – she went straight for licking the milk off of a small plate. Manna loved Cinco right away and surprisingly he took to her too.
Manna is full of personality. She is queen of the house and she knows it. Unlike Cinco, Manna welcomes guests and relishes the attention. Manna is always the life of the party. People love how Manna will have “conversations” with them. When you speak to her she will actually meow back. She also loves to get in vicious “fights” with my husband (her favorite game).
Manna got her name from the bread from Heaven in the Bible. “Manna” is a Hebrew word meaning “what is it,” which was exactly what people said when we first got her because she was so funny looking. Also, Manna’s timing for coming into my life was a great lesson in how God provides for me.
Robin, thanks for stopping by my blog to read about David and his cat. I bet you will love his blog too. Your cats are very pretty!
Jan
Thank you very much Jan! I love the insights that animals can give us into the world.
Hello Robin: Thank you for checking out my “cheetah” post on my blog. Although I love all animals, I have two dogs at home. I used to have cats when I lived in California, but they both got killed by a bobcat that was stalking the neighborhood where I lived at the time. There are not many cats here in Costa Rica.
Hello Robin! What a pleasure to find your blog, thanks to you visiting my blog and reading my ‘cat show’ post. You have a really lovely blog here. Have you checked out MoggiePurrs at http://moggiepurrs.wordpress.com/ yet? Beverly has been a great support to my blog pretty much from day one, we both started in January, even though I do write a fair bit about my cats, as you know, my blog isn’t primarily about cats! You would love her site, as I know she would love yours. I am going to tell her all about you!
If you are interested and would like to see more stories and photos of my two cats, Eddie and Maisy, I have a category called ‘CATalogue’ (what else!) where I post these.
I will definitely be visiting your blog often so I have signed up to follow you and I wish you every success with it. Have a lovely day 🙂
Thank you so much for your kind words! I am glad that my site is helpful to you. I am learning a lot too by doing all the research that I do for these articles. Cats are far more interesting than many people give them credit for. I will definitely be checking out MoggiePurrs and your CATalogue. I can’t wait to “meet” Eddie and Maisy.
Thank you for the follow as well! I will follow you as well. I love to keep up with what is going on in the lives of those who follow my blog. If there is ever a topic you would like to see, please let me know! I hope you have a wonderful day!
I certainly will Robin, and thanks again! You have a wonderful day too 🙂
Thanks for the follow. I will enjoy getting to know Cinco and Manna, too. You have a delightful blog site here. I’ve enjoyed looking through it.
